  • What can I expect to be on the road test?

    See the Alaska DMV manual page 6 (or page 10 of 94 in the PDF digital form) for areas you may be tested on.

  • Do I have to pay to retake the road test?

    Yes.

  • Can I road test to renew my license?

    Yes. If you are renewing your license for any reason, please visit the DMV Reinstate your Driving Privileges webpage or call the DMV Driver Service office at (907) 269-5551 for information on the renewal process.

  • Do you offer IID road testing?

    Yes. To schedule a road test please contact the office at (907) 696-2886 or at 907drive2@gmail.com, please note that payment is due at the time of scheduling your exam and that payment is non-refundable.

  • Does ERDS issue driver’s licenses?

    Not at this time; we only offer the Class D DMV Road Test.

  • Does my child need a permit to enroll?

    No, but your student will need a current instructional permit in order to drive.

  • How do I reschedule or cancel a road test or student drive?

    To cancel reschedule a student drive students/parents can contact the office or instructor directly. Client requests to cancel or reschedule are accepted up to the time of the scheduled event, if after 15 minutes the client does not show at the office nor has made a call, the client is considered a No-Show.   • How do I sign up for the driving course?

    To register for the driving course please contact the office at (907) 696-2886 or at 907drive2@gmail.com, please note that a $100 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration and is applied to the balance.

  • How do I sign up for a road test?

  • How soon can I re-test after failing the road test?

    In most situations a minimum of 7 days is required before being allowed to test again, but 6 months may be required in certain circumstances.

  • What if I have a permit from out of state?

    Proof of passing the Alaska State knowledge test (an Alaska issued driver’s permit) must be presented with the out of state permit.

  • When are classes?

    New classes are held monthly with both in-class and behind-the-wheel drives spread out over the course of the month. Times and dates vary.

  • Will my child take the written exam in the course?

    No, your student will have already taken the written general knowledge test at the DMV to earn his/her instructional permit.

  • Will taking the driving course subtract points from my driving record?

    Students from the Anchorage Municipality who have taken the course prior to receiving a ticket in the Anchorage Municipality may use their certificate to possibly mitigate points one time. If you are trying to remove points already accumulated on your record, you must attend a Driver Improvement aka Defensive Driving Program (not offered at ERDS at this time).

  • Will road testers over the age of 18 receive a provisional driver’s license?

    No - a provisional license is required only for drivers who are 16 or 17 years old.
